As you know I’ve been taking this class on plant based nutrition. It’s been fascinating and I’ve learned a lot about the food and how it affects the body. It’s been great. The only problem I’ve run into has been with the assignments lately. I had to write a press release about the benefits of diet and stuff. I’m not exactly a press release kind of gal.
When I was writing it was more along the lines of bulletin inserts and announcements so that’s what I did. I wrote a bulletin insert. Turns out it’s very similar to a press release! Here’s what I did. It’s a little intense but I had to fulfill the class requirements. It’s entertaining really. I’m quite relieved that life in ministry has prepared me for work in the outside world if it should ever come to that…
Many of us struggle with our health. Whether the issue is weight, chronic illness or some other problem, we all have issues that need to be addressed for us to live full, healthy lives. We struggle on our own, thinking we need to find the next program or pill to help us get well. We wonder how we will get through and we seek to find answers.
The answers may have been closer than any of us ever thought. According to the groundbreaking research done by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. John McDougall and many more, a plant based diet (focused on vegetables and grains) similar to the diet that the prophet Daniel followed in the first chapter of Daniel can heal our bodies and improve our lives.
“…and fed them vegetables and water for ten days. At the end of the ten days they looked better and more robust than all the others who had been eating from the royal menu. So the steward continued to exempt them from the royal menu of food and drink and served them only vegetables.” Daniel 14-16
When we look at the science we can see that
- People who adopt a whole foods plant based diet lose on average 24 pounds in the first year
- Heart Disease can be stopped and reversed
- People who suffer from Diabetes can go off of their medications
- Depression is often lessened or cured
- Chronic diseases (like MS, Fibromyalgia and more) can experience a great improvement.
Join us in January as we adopt the Daniel plan for 28 days and live as Daniel lived. Together we will study and learn more about this unique way of living bringing us more in tune with our bodies and God. We will find new ways of incorporating plant based foods into our lives and discover food in it’s most natural form.
